In these unprecedented times, we wanted to take the time to review some of best restaurants in our neighborhood that are opting to remain open by serving amazing food to-go and via delivery. Our hope is that, like us, at least one day a week you can help support one of these much deserving restaurants. If any restaurants have to close to their doors due to the mandatory closures, everybody loses; the employees, the owners, the patrons and the neighborhoods in which they serve.
Cane Rosso is as quintessential to Deep Ellum as is that shiny Deep Ellum man. It has been a part of the neighborhood for years and earns its keep by serving up some of the best pizza the city has to offer. The atmosphere also kicks ass, but sadly, you will have to enjoy that another day. Today, you can enjoy this amazing food in your living room!
Last night Michal and I had dinner delivered: 2 pizzas, nuggz, a dessert pizza and some zeppoles (more dessert...) and had ourselves one hell of a glutenous feast. Honestly, it was one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. Their food is so good, I was literally sitting on the floor smiling and laughing because of the sheer joy it brought me!
Originally inspired by a trip to Italy the owner, Jay, returned to Dallas and built a Napoleon style pizza oven in his back yard and then decided to get certified by Associazone Verace Pizza Napoletana. He knows what he is doing, is proud of his work and it shows in the final product. That product is so good that Cane Rosso has expanded all over the metroplex and beyond. Hopefully, you've tried it before and this article inspires you to make a repeat visit, but if you haven't, place an order! You won't regret it.
Here is what we ordered: the appetizer we got the Fried Nuggz-fried bits of cheese. Our Pizzas we got the The Honey Bastard and we asked for candied jalapeños as an extra topping. It's an incredible blend of bacon jam, soppressata and habanero honey and is a one of a kind and delicious. The second pizza was the Zoli which is soppressata and Italian sausage. For dessert, we got the Edgar; think s'mores on a pizza. And for second dessert we got the Zeppoles; cinnamon sugar Italian doughnuts. Freaking amazing.
Seriously y'all, get yourself some of this pizza sooner rather than later. You will not regret it, nor forget it. #WKNDR
