Jalisco Norte - Mex Kitchen and Bar

On Oaklawn, north of Lemmon at the Blackburn intersection, tucked behind a few other things,is an insanely good Mexican treat of a restaurant called Jalisco Norte. It definitely deserves your attention.

In these unprecedented times, we wanted to take the time to review some of best restaurants in our neighborhood that are opting to remain open by serving amazing food to-go and via delivery. Our hope is that, like us, at least one day a week you can help support one of these much deserving restaurants. If any restaurants have to close to their doors due to the mandatory closures, everybody loses, the employees, the owners, the patrons and the neighborhoods in which they serve.

We were sitting around on a Saturday evening on the patio watching the neighborhood kids film a music video across the street from you (seriously and certainly not social distancing), drinking a margarita and Michal asked what we were doing for dinner. Well Mexican is always the right answer. And since we review restaurants for our blog, why not try somewhere new! We started the ever so rewarding search for restaurants around Dallas that we've never been to. Eventually we stumbled upon Jalisco Norte, who conveniently delivers via Uber eats. High five between us!

We started off with the Guacamole and an order of Ceviche. Both were excellent. The heat from the ceviche was a welcomed surprise and the Guacamole cooled it down nicely. I thought the guacamole was so good, that after the meal was over, I finished it off with the leftover chips…yeah, it was that good.

For dinner we both had tacos. Michal had the Tinga De Pollo and I had the Birria. Both were excellent. So good in fact, a direct quote from Michal was 'Oh my god, this is so good!’ The Birria was incredibly tender with a good amount of spice and flavor. The beans and rice that came with the tacos were more than just standard. They were excellent! The beans by themselves were almost as good as the guacamole. I devoured both mine and Michal's without even asking. Risky move, but worth it.

As for the atmosphere, we sadly cannot comment. Their website looks beautiful and we cannot wait to visit in person. As for now, we are very excited to have another solid go-to Mexican restaurant in the neighborhood. It was a great experience and we really hope you give it a try. #WKNDR.
